Soundarya Thandapani

ABOUT

Soundarya Thandapani is an Indian photographer based in London, working across portraiture and fashion. Her work explores themes of womanhood, femininity, and cultural identity, shaped by her South Asian upbringing and the environments she has navigated. Blending culturally rooted storytelling with concept-driven editorial work, her images celebrate empowerment and authenticity, defined by a deep sensitivity to people and place.

With a background in graphic design, her visual language reflects bold contrasts, symmetry, and a strong sense of balance, often paired with a nuanced, emotive use of colour.

Her passion for photography began with a childhood fascination for capturing memories and experiencing nostalgia through images. After earning a Bachelor's degree in Visual Communication with a specialisation in Advertising Photography from M.O.P. Vaishnav College in Chennai, she worked for four years as a freelance photographer across fashion, portraiture, and product photography.

She is currently pursuing an MA in Commercial Photography at the London College of Communication (UAL), continuing to expand her creative practice between the UK and India.
