Becoming Enough

This project draws from Soundarya’s personal experiences, tracing the journey of a child who excelled in academic work, sport, and art, but grew up in a culture where achievement was always expected and rarely acknowledged. The absence of recognition carried into adulthood as a search for constant validation and self-worth. Rooted in South Asian family dynamics, the work explores identity, belonging, and healing.

Though deeply personal, it extends an invitation for others to reflect on their own quiet journeys and emotional inheritances that many carry but seldom voice. Through staged, metaphorical portraits and performative images, she revisits moments that shaped her resilience. By reclaiming her narrative, she transforms ordinary scenes into spaces of empowerment, reflecting on relationships, memory, and the quiet strength of Becoming Enough.
